Civil construction in St. Louis: bridges, roadways and streetscapes, self-performed

Company-owned equipment and in-house crews build bridges, roadways and streetscapes for public agencies and private owners across the St. Louis area.

Chapter 01

Company-owned equipment means the schedule is ours to keep

Raineri's civil crews work with a vast array of well-maintained, company-owned equipment. For an owner or a public agency, that has a direct effect on the calendar: nobody is waiting on a rental yard to find a machine, and nobody is explaining why the right piece of equipment is on another contractor's site this week.

Owning the fleet also means it is kept up by people who know it. Machines are maintained between jobs, matched to the work and operated by trained, highly skilled hands. Pour days, paving days and bridge deck days are planned around crews and equipment Raineri controls, which is how a firm holds a tight window on roadways where traffic and weather do not wait.

In-house tradespeople who self-perform the work

The Buckley Road Bridge for St. Louis County shows the model. Working with engineer Horner & Shifrin, Raineri's self-perform crews replaced both the vehicle bridge and the pedestrian bridge about half a mile south of Lemay Ferry Road, and the work was completed in July 2025. Raineri's own people did the work instead of passing it down a chain of subcontractors.

The Warren County Bridge Replacement sits on the same sheet. Bridge work leaves little room for misunderstanding between the plan and the field, and having the tradespeople on Raineri's payroll keeps the person who builds it close to the person who answers for it. Forming, rebar, concrete and finishing are scheduled by one team that sees the whole job, so a change in the field is a conversation, not a chain of change requests.

Vice President of Civil Construction Ada Brown and Operations Manager Ed Hanks lead that side of the firm, with an experienced management team that sets the sequence, the traffic plan and the crew assignments for each job. Owners deal with the same people who decide where the crews and the equipment go each morning.

Chapter 03

Public owners, private owners and the streets between them

Raineri executes civil construction for both the public and private sectors, and the register shows the spread: 7th Street Improvements downtown, Lemay Streetscape, Smith Place Streetscape, the Edgar Road left turn lane in Webster Groves and Old Gravois Road on the public side, alongside Grand Arts Academy Plaza, the FAA Parking Lot, the Pervious Parking Lot Replacement and Grace Hill RV Parking.

Work next to live streets, neighbors and open storefronts depends on traffic and public-access coordination. Walkways stay passable, driveways get dates, and the people who live and work beside a project hear what is happening before the equipment arrives. That planning is part of the job, and it is built into the schedule from the start.

The firm's civil expertise covers transportation, heavy highway, bridges and roadways, and infrastructure. When a project needs buildings and the ground around them, the building construction side of the same company is a short conversation away, with one firm accountable for both sides of the curb and one set of people to call when plans change.

Named civil jobs include the Buckley Road Bridge for St. Louis County, the Warren County Bridge Replacement, 7th Street Improvements and the Lemay Streetscape.
